2021 - Rocco Restaurante - Sound System and Integration

The iconic building in Chiado that for almost 80 years was the home of Rádio Renascença, is now “The Ivens Hotel”. A 5-star hotel that also houses the “Rocco” Restaurant, open to customers and non-customers of the Hotel.

Rocco is a restaurant inspired by Italian/Mediterranean cuisine, with 3 different spaces and concepts: Gastrobar, Ristorante and Crudobar. In addition to these 3 spaces, a terrace is also part of the restaurant.

We were asked to design a sound system for all areas of the restaurant, which, in addition to sound quality, was also as discreet and functional as possible.
The choice fell on the 2-way loudspeakers IC-620 and IC-630 from the North American brand Russound, a premium line of ceiling loudspeakers that, in addition to sound intelligibility, present enormous physical robustness thanks to their titanium components.
The subwoofers were also embedded in the wall and with an optimized positioning, and in order to control and manage this network of speakers and subs, a system was installed with digital audio processors and 5" and 8" touchscreen control panels, with DANTE communication .

In order not to “saturate” the environment with an ineffective sound distribution, the loudspeakers were placed exactly above the seats, thus making the entire space more disciplined in terms of sound.
Also the different areas (Gastrobar, Ristorante, Crudobar and Esplanade) can have a differentiated sound control, both in terms of volume, equalization or musical selection. This control is done by touch and intuitive screens in integration with the digital processors mentioned above.

This was a project aligned, as always, with the client's premises, resulting in a sober, quality and future-proof ambient sound system.
