The beauty and cosmetics industry giant, L'Oréal, has implemented the brand's Academies all over the world, with the aim of training hair stylists for the latest techniques and trends and how to use them with the latest L' products. The real. One of the newest gyms is situated in the vibrant Portuguese capital - Lisbon. With a project by Garrett Audiovisuais, Academia L'Oréal in Lisbon became the group's first digital academy and the first to install high-quality Genelec speakers in its training rooms.

"Previously, L'Oréal used to rent equipment for all their events," explains Carlos Melo of Garrett Audiovisuais, who was closely involved in the project. “However, in the course of several project discussion meetings they decided that it would be better to have their own solution in-house rather than relying on external audiovisual companies as it would be cheaper in the long run and more convenient. They also knew they could count on us for technical support whenever they needed it. We recommend Genelec as it offers everything they need: excellent intelligibility when using microphones, high quality ambient sound both at low volume and at high volume when the DJ is invited in! ”

There are four rooms in total, spread over two floors, used mainly for training, but also for parties and other events. They can operate independently or in combination in any configuration. The control rooms on the ground floor and first floor communicate via the Dante network, so that L'Oréal can host a single event on both floors if necessary - as all audio and video can be streamed live across the four floors. spaces, making the system extremely flexible.

For the audio system, Garrett specified two Genelec 8050B speakers and one 7070A subwoofer per room. The 8050B is designed as a studio monitor speaker, ensuring absolutely pure audio quality at any playback level and at any listening point in the room. The 7070A subwoofer delivers extremely clean and accurate low-frequency performance, combining low distortion and impressively high SPL capability. The speakers and subwoofers are active, making installation very simple, without worrying about amp racks or excessive cable distances. In addition, several AIC25 ceiling columns were installed throughout the lobby as well as other public areas.

According to the Academy's supervisor, Sofia Fernandes, the new audio system made a huge difference, both in operational terms and in terms of quality. "These rooms are used every day in a series of different combinations," he explains. “Setup is now very easy: all I have to do is turn on the microphone and we are practically ready to go. On/Off and volume can be controlled remotely via a tablet or, if we have a DJ, he operates everything from the table. The sound is amazing, whether it's voice or music, at high or low volume. In fact, now that the system is installed, I'm glad I don't have that worry anymore - I just turn it on and it works. The combination of rooms is also very practical, so , there is no doubt that this has helped me a lot in my work. We no longer have to deal with the hassle of entering and leaving external Audiovisual companies - even if we do a good job, it's always one more thing to deal with. we managed it all ourselves, and probably with even better results. You feel it's all extremely professional and it's seamlessly integrated with our other systems. Garrett Audiovisuals did a wonderful job, yes, we're very pleased."
